Carbureted Engines

Engines for carbureted models all come with the S&S Super G carburetor with the slotted “Desperado” air cleaner cover for good looks and improved performance. Complete carbureted S&S T124 engines are available only with the S&S Intelligent Spark Technology (IST) ignition system and are covered by an extended two year warranty because we are confident that the IST ignition will protect the engine from damage due to detonation. In addition, the IST Guardian “break in rev limit” feature is activated on IST modules sold with complete S&S engines. This feature protects the new engine from premature failure with a lower rev limit during break in. IST equipped engines are now available for 1999-’06 models

Fuel Injected Engines

Complete fuel injected T124 engines come with the S&S Variable Fuel Injection (VFI) Module, manifolds and throttle body, and are available for 1999-'05 models equipped with Harley-Davidson® Twin Cam 88® engines. S&S does not currently offer an engine for 2006 Dyna™ models, or to replace balanced Twin Cam 88B™ engines. S&S teardrop air cleaners or VFI tuned induction systems must be purchased separately to complete the package. (See below.) The VFI system included with each fuel injected engine, comes with the complete S&S ProTune II software package which contains fuel maps for the most common exhaust systems used in conjunction with both the S&S air cleaner and the S&S VFI tuned induction system. This means that anyone with a laptop computer can load the correct map into the module. However, it is recommended that the VFI System be fine tuned at an S&S VFI Tuning Center. Adding the S&S Closed Loop Sensor Kit to engines with either the Delphi® or Magneti Marelli® style S&S VFI module will make tuning much easier and reduce the amount of dyno time required to fine tune the engine.

All Engines feature our heavy duty C355 Castings and Dynamic Balanced Press Pin Crank Shafts. This is a difficult engine to describe the performance level to anyone who hasn’t had it and this is the correct answer for the customer who demands the highest performance availible. These Engines are available in both Assemble Complete and Unassembled Long blocks.

You must have a frame that can accept an engine 5/8” taller than a stock Evo.
You must have heavy-duty drive train components.

RideMaxx Auto is the default setting at start-up. The custom fuel management optimizes your ride, actively attenuating power and fuel economy. The RideMaxx Power setting gives you the power you need, when you need it. You will experience up to 10% more power while eliminating backfiring with increased throttle response. RideMaxx Fuel is the setting specifically designed for fuel priority, it will stretch the bike’s tank for an added 25 miles. As in the other modes, your bike will be smooth and seamless.

At the core of the RideMaxx system is the FuelMaxx, which does the heavy lifting for the system. Your V-Twin is equipped with an ECU which is the brains for your bike. The FuelMaxx simply plugs into the harness and ECU, a simple and efficient means for improved performance. The RideMaxx is the only system available that is without any wires or cables. S & S complete engine cases come "set-up" with the cam and sprocket shaft, Timken main bearing races installed and pinion shaft bearing race pressed in and line-honed, ready to fit. This offers a substantial labor savings and eliminates the need and expense of "line boring and honing". Special design features include:

  • Cast from 356-T6 heat-treated aluminum alloy and CNC machined for consistent superior quality.
  • Additional material has been added in key areas for strength, with out requiring modifications for frame clearance.
  • Clearances for any stroke up to and including 5" with stock or beefy S & S rods.
  • Ported breather passageways/cavity optimizes  oil scavenging efficiency while providing maximum timing specifications.

Crankcase assemblies include left and right cases, case bolts, nuts and washers, cylinder mounting studs, timing hole and drain plugs. assorted case fittings. sprocket shaft Timken bearing assembly, drive sprocket spacer and oil seal, pinion shaft main bearing race, cam needle bearing, oil pump drive shaft bushing and installation instructions. Delkron Engine Cases for Big Twins
Delkron's cases are computer designed and CNC-machined. The cases are permanent moldcast of '356-T6' aluminum with 1/2"-thick wall sections, have cast-in gray iron inserts and use standard thread fasteners. A removable high performance sump plate permits inspection of the bottom end, and is finned for additional cooling. Permanent mold casting is superior to sand casting providing more exact duplication, closer tolerances, better mold adhesion and precision race insert location. Other design innovations include:

  • Extra rib on left front motor mount to prevent ear breakage
  • Oversized front and rear cylinder pad areas
  • Alternator stator plug moved outboard to eliminate thin area near left case race. Nylon set screw holds plug in place
  • Relocated primary O-ring groove provides positive seal and eliminates weak register lip
  • Rerouted oil passages eliminate thin areas around cylinder and lifter blocks
  • Roll-formed threads eliminate tap galling and ensure accurate thread size
  • Work on forward or mid-shift models
  • All cases complete with torque specs and instructions.

Engine Case Assemblies
The most important components are pre-installed at the factory and are ready to assemble.The right-side pinion race is installed and line-honed to standard size. Includes left-side Timken bearings with races installed. Cases for Evolution® engines include cylinder studs.

This European made adapter kit is designed with the custom bike builder in mind. It allows you to use a Twin Cam “A” engine as used in Dyna Glide and FLH / FLT models, in conjunction with a 1985 thru 1999 Softail transmission in most frames that are originally made for an Evolution Big Twin such as our Wide Tail or Super-Ass frames. There is very little grinding on the engine cases required to allow for wrench clearance. The adapter plate is precision machined from a solid block of billet aluminum for strength and true Custom Style. Kit comes complete with all necessary hardware as well as comprehensive fitting instructions.

87” Alternator-Generator Knucklehead Long Block features alternator left hand case and generator right hand case. Each long block is assembled with S&S crankcases, Sifton oil pump, S&S 4 5/8” flywheels, Timken main bearing, Sifton Knucklehead lighting cam, matched pinion gear, Torrington cam needle bearing and Torrington main pinion bearing. Cylinders are Motor Shop Ready Brand pre-fitted with forged 8.25:1 pistons. Cylinder heads are Motor Shop Ready brand fitted with Sifton valves, springs and collars. Heads feature stock intake and exhaust ports. Each 87” long block is assembled with a natural finish cam cover, natural finish lifter block, automatic advance distributor and solid lifters. Each long block is pre-run and tested for proper oil pump pressure. Sprocket shaft is correct length for 1970-up 4 or 5 speed transmission assembly.

FLH Panhead Long Block is of 74” or 80” cubic inch displacement featuring an S&S crankcase, Sifton oil pump/breather assembly, S&S stock stroke flywheel, Timken bearing, stock FLH cam installed with a matched pinion and cam gear with a Torrington full compliment bearing. Assembly supplied with a cast finished ribbed cam cover, chrome lifter blocks which are fitted with hydraulic tappets and stock steel pushrods. Cylinders are stock replacement with standard compression 8.5:1 cast pistons and Hastings rings. Top end includes single plug S.T.D. Panhead fitted with rocker arm assemblies, chrome pan covers with thick DRings, and chrome steel pushrods covers. Order manifold (Shovel band style), carburetor and 2 brush generator separately. Made from 7075-T651 aluminum with a tensile strength of 83,000 psi, which is double the amount of 6061-T6 aluminum and almost triple the amount of cast cam covers. This cam cover is positioned precisely to the centerline of the cam bushing and pinion bushing. In fact, this cam cover is within .0002” of where the factory intended it to be. Why hold centerline that close, or for that matter, why even care about centerline in a cam cover? We at JIMS® are concerned with the life of your motor. For this reason, we are helping you to achieve long life of your valve train components, consisting of your cam, tappets and your tappet blocks. Your cam shaft must lie on the best possible foundation. The foundation we are concerned with is the centerline of the cam shaft. If the cam shaft is tilted off in any direction much more than the running clearance at each end of cam shaft, this will affect the way the tappet rollers ride on the cam lobe. If they are not riding flat, but on one edge of the roller, it could possibly shorten the life of your valve train. The cam shaft is supported at both ends, while the inner cam bearing is a given, meaning the bearing is not going to move unless you do a lot of machining. Your cam cover must be right to the case centerline for the longest possible tappet and cam life.

• The Feuling camplate for Twin Cam® engines increases engine oil flow and volume by enlarging critical oil passages and the oil pump reservoirs. The cam plate is blue printed and matched to the Feuling oil pump which allows the Twin Cam® Engine to take full advantage of the increased volume from the Feuling oil pump.

• Made from 7075 billet aluminum with and hard anodized which increases the strength and hardness of the camplate, holds tighter tolerances under temperature and allows elimination of the pinion shaft bushing.
